FOP partners with Smith & Wesson NASCAR Racing Program
10/5/2005

The National Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) is pleased to announce a partnership with Smith & Wesson NASCAR Racing Program (S&W) to raise funds for the FOP Foundation, a charitable arm of the FOP responsible for a wide range of worthwhile initiatives which include the National Peace Officers' Memorial Service held annually in Washington, D.C.

Smith & Wesson will be showcasing a black & white race car resembling a police unit with the FOP logo on the trunk cover during the 2005 Busch Series at the Texas Motor Speedway on November 5th and the Phoenix International Raceway on November 12th. At the wheel will be Ron Hornaday, 2-time Craftsman Truck Series Champion. The car is a tribute to America's law enforcement and military heroes.

At each race, S&W will feature a FOP member that is an active police officer and has a recent story of valor as an "Honorary Crew Chief" on pit row. S&W has also offered to help coordinate promotions and shooting events at local gun shops and ranges in the weeks before the races, and police shooting competition events through the local FOP Lodges.

For this event to be successful with the maximum financial support to the FOP Foundation, we need full support from all State and Local Lodges. We are offering FOP/S&W Racing products in the S&W merchandise trailer at the races and through the racing products web site, http://www.smith-wesson-racing.com/. Items include apparel and die-cast car replicas. A portion of the proceeds benefit the FOP Foundation. Each lodge is encouraged to assist in promoting this partnership and available merchandise benefiting the Foundation.

The race car and merchandise make reference to "M&P", which is S&W's new Military & Police auto-pistol featured for Law Enforcement in 2006.
